The project “Strengthening European networking for climate adaptation” aims to examine the current state of European research on selected climate adaptation topics.
The central goal of the project “Strengthening European networking for climate adaptation” is to identify important topics and needs at the interface between science and politics (policy) relating to climate adaptation and to support European policy advice in these areas.
The project aims to identify topics where short-term cooperation or mutual support among European actors can create added value for all involved, encompassing scientific and political questions across the entire policy cycle of climate adaptation. It involves reviewing the current state of European research on these identified topics and preparing in-depth analyses of selected research topics that are currently relevant for Germany and Europe in the field of climate adaptation. In this context, the project conducts analyses on how to improve the transfer of scientific findings into policy practice in Europe, particularly by better exploiting current or future windows of opportunity. Additionally, the project examines areas where Germany can learn from other countries or vice versa. Moreover, the project should contribute to networking relevant actors with the UBA and each other.
Fresh Thoughts leads the topic of maladaptation, conducting background research and contributes to in-depth and scientific papers.
