EU4Sevan project aims to further enhance the environmental protection of Lake Sevan. The Project is part of the EU Action “EU4 Energy Efficiency and Environment”, and of the BMZ-funded program “Management of natural resources and safeguarding of ecosystem services for sustainable rural development in the South Caucasus (ECO serve)”. The project was implemented jointly by GIZ and UNDP, with the UNDP component aiming to further improve the overall governance system regulating Lake Sevan ecosystem management and sustainable use.
To formulate a new long-term vision of Lake Sevan, and update respectively the policy and regulatory framework governing Lake Sevan, the objectives of this assignment were:
- Development of a roadmap for defining a new long-term national vision for Lake Sevan, in coordination with a national expert.
- Development of a roadmap for updating the policy, legal and institutional framework governing Lake Sevan, in coordination with a national expert.
The international consultant Mr. Guido Schmidt worked with the national expert Mr. Vahagn Tonoyan to ensure international and national knowledge and complementarity in data gathering, analysis, and provision of inputs.
