The EU Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (2020), the EU zero pollution strategy (2021), and the planned start of EU membership negotiations require continued and extended EU support to Albania on integrated water management and wastewater treatment, to substantially increase the transposition and implementation of the EU water “Acquis” and national water policies.
Since 2018, the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) has been implementing the EU and ADC co-financed action “EU Support to Integrated Water Management” (EUSIWM) as delegated cooperation with the EU (under IPA II/2018). Fresh Thoughts provided technical advice and assistance in preparing the Description of the Action to align Albania with the EU water acquis under the EU Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance 3.
