State of Play and Flood risk in the EU

State of Play and Flood risk in the EU

Under the UCPM Decision No 1313/2013/EU, Member States have an obligation to develop risk assessments at national or appropriate sub-national level and make available to the Commission a summary of the relevant elements every three years.

In 2019, one of the priorities for DG ECHO is to analyse the new submissions of national risk assessments and prepare a new edition of the Staff Working Document the “Overview of Natural and Man-made Disaster Risks the EU May Face”. These two strands of work are closely linked, with national risk assessments representing an important source of information (though not the only one) for the EU Overview.
