Under the UCPM Decision No 1313/2013/EU, Member States must develop risk assessments at national or appropriate sub-national level and make available a summary of the relevant elements to the Commission every three years.
In 2019, one of the priorities for DG ECHO was to analyse the new national risk assessment submissions and to prepare a new edition of the Staff Working Document “Overview of Natural and Man-made Disaster Risks the EU May Face”. These two work strands are closely linked, with national risk assessments representing an important source of information (though not the only one) for the EU Overview.
