The general objective of this service request under a general Framework Contract was to assess how Directive 2000/60/EC1 (the Water Framework Directive or WFD) and its daughter Directives were implemented by the Member States, based on the assessment of the second River Basin Management Plans (submitted end 2015 covering the six-year period 2016-2021). The Commission used the technical assessments as background information for its task to ensure that the Directives were correctly applied in the Member States following Article 258 of the TFEU.
