The EU project START_it_up (state-of-the-art in Risk Management Technology: Implementation and Trial for usability in Engineering Practice and Policy) was a transnational project from the Interreg IVB Program “Alpine Space”, Priority Axis 3 “Environment and Risk Prevention” of the European fund for “European Territorial Cooperation” ERDF 2007-2013. A key project in START_it_up was the verifiable evaluation of risk reduction strategies with explicit consideration of the ecosystem services provided. For the work package on “Information and Publicity”, Dr. Thomas Thaler gave a presentation at the international workshop on “Valuing Benefits and Costs of Flood Risk Mitigation Strategies: Towards an effective implementation of hazard maps”. Additional activities included protocolling the workshop and writing the conference report.
