The Blue Green City Coaching (BGCC) aims to exploit the potential of nature-based solutions (NbS) for climate adaptation in cities. The coaching targets mid-sized cities (up to 300,000 inhabitants) and supports the development of risk and potential analyses, integrated concepts and transformation strategies. Ten municipalities will have the opportunity to participate in the coaching. The application process will open in spring 2025.
The project, which runs until 2027, is structured in 4 phases: 1) development of the toolbox, 2) application phase, 3) coaching, 4) evaluation and replication of the results. Fresh Thoughts is mainly responsible for the coordination of the application process (phase 2), training videos on key coaching topics, networking activities, conceptual work, and the documentation of the project results.
The project follows a science-based approach and is action-orientated, thereby aiming to make urban areas more climate resilient. Key outcomes of the project are the coaching toolbox and the coaching handbook, which should enable the replication of the results in other German cities.
