Climate Change is one of the big challenges of the 21st century. Apart from mitigation, adaptation to the consequences of climate change is indispensable. In this context, the Government of Luxemburg, has decided to elaborate a climate adaptation strategy based on two already existing documents. The strategy will comprise of the following parts:
- a summary of climate change impacts on the region
- a vulnerability assessment for relevant sectors
- the evaluation of already existing measures and
- the design of new measures
FT covered the following tasks:
- A detailed description of the impacts of climate change on bio-, hydro-, pedo- and reliefsphere
- A summary of already experienced and expected change of climate for temperature, precipitation and extreme events
- A vulnerability assessment for biodiversity & ecosystems, construction & housing, energy, forestry, health, infrastructure, agriculture, spatial planning, catastrophe management, tourism, urban environments, water management and economy
- Based on the above-mentioned information already existing measures will be evaluated and described and if necessary new measures will be proposed
