More sustainable events in St. Anton am Arlberg

Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Austria is one of Europe’s most famous ski and winter sports destinations. Every year thousands of tourists from all over the world come to explore the majestic mountains and enjoy the rich offer of activities and events in winter and summer. However, the region’s increasing popularity also negatively impacts the environment, the local community and the economy.

The numerous tourist and community events play an essential role in the region and contribute to the visitor’s experience. In order to protect the valuable nature on which the tourism sector depends, the tourism association wants to reduce the environmental backpack attached to these events. This includes reducing CO2 emissions, waste management, and nature protection activities.

The goal is to create a win-win situation for all parties involved. Visitors can continue to enjoy a memorable experience, the local community and environment are protected, and event organisers can run their events sustainably and cost-effectively.

Therefore, FT created a practicable guideline including a checklist for organising more sustainable events for the TVB Sankt Anton am Arlberg.
