On June 18th 2022, the St. Anton am Arlberg region and the neighbouring villages of Pettneu am Arlberg, Schnann, Flirsch and Strengen started the mountain summer. The municipality of St. Anton am Arlberg, the St. Anton am Arlberg Tourism Association and the “Energie und Wirtschaftsbetriebe St. Anton am Arlberg” decided to carry out a pilot test for e-scooters as an additional micro-mobility solution within the municipality for residents and tourists from June 15th 2022 to September 30th 2022. For this purpose, a cooperation with TIER Mobility was established.
The aim of this project was to find out in a pilot test to what extent e-scooters can contribute to a reduction in car traffic in a rural community and an improvement of local transport and thus to improved accessibility of tourist and local offers. To this end, scientific evaluation of e-scooter use is needed in terms of:
- The satisfaction of the users with the quality of the offer.
- The contribution to a mobility turnaround in rural areas.
