Tourism Monitoring In Antarctica

Tourism Monitoring In Antarctica

Development of a concept for the investigation of the effects of tourism on the protected resources in Antarctica.

The aim of this study is to present the current state of scientific knowledge on the impacts of tourism activities, including the logistics used, on the relevant protected goods of the Antarctic environment. On this basis, a comprehensive monitoring concept is to be developed that can monitor tourist frequented sites and other reference areas (in Antarctica, specific in the area south of 60 ° degrees south latitude) in the long term in order to detect possible changes in the Antarctic environment in good time.

The overall objective of this research project is to contribute to the further development of international environmental protection in Antarctica

FT will also organise two international workshops to connect relevant stakeholders.
